Josi again has been working away at expanding the range Warman Guitars has to offer and has come up with a fantastic humbucker sized P90 that is a straight drop in fit to your existing humbucker mount rings so you can have the clarity and big fat single coil sound with the minimum of modifications. And because you are buying direct we are able to do a matched pair for around the same price as others are offering one for.
A bright chrome metal housing surrounds the black pickup face with six adjustable pole pieces. The neck has a string span of 50mm across the poles and the bridge measures 52mm across the pole pieces.
Bridge is wound to 7.68 kOhms with an inductance of 4.23 Henries
Neck is wound to 7.39 kOhms with an inductance of 4.18 Henries
These P90 voiced humbucker size pickups both come with nice long leads for wiring up LP and SG style and are supplied with height springs and screws.
These 90’s are opposed wound so that when you are using both together they operate in hum cancelling / humbucking mode.

Just got fantastic results when replacing some 90s alnico2pro humbuckers with this pair. The timbre hasn’t changed, it’s the same guitar. But what a lovely tone. For the first time I don’t reach out to the bass knob on the amp to turn it up when I take it in my hands. Right from the start a very balanced tone, and all nuances of the instrument can be brought to ears. I tweak less but play more. From time to time I still use my GE-7 to tame the bass when I’m on the neck PU, but that’s it.

I received a set of these pickups as a present last Christmas and I’ve been enjoying them very much. I put them in a somewhat dull Epiphone LP (because it’s cut from cheap “mahogany substitute”, I suspect) to replace some Warman “Retro Rockers”.
Although I was never unhappy with the “Retro Rockers” (which have given good service and are far superior to the stock pickups), the P90s have brightened the instrument somewhat. I’d never used P90’s in any instrument previously and I think I’m now something of a convert.
They and the instrument have been getting regular use as the electric half of the acoustic / electric combination in our church band since the start of the year and there has been a definite uptick in appreciative comments, particularly about how good the band is sounding since then.
Since nothing much else about what we’re doing has changed, I put it down to the rather magical combination of these pickups and a Helix running Fender Twin Reverb & Deluxe Memory Man models, which seem to provide a combination of gorgeous crunch, edge, sustain and je-ne-sais-quoi.
As expected, they break up faster than the single coils on my strat and a little less quickly than the humbuckers they replaced. I wouldn’t mind a little more treble content from the neck pickup (but that can be EQ’d); the overall the sound is warm, round and full.
I’m going to finish by suggest a new tag-line for Warman which they can use free of charge / restrictions if they want to:

Fitted to my left-handed Yamaha Revstar RSE20 (as a P90 Revstar isn’t available left-handed) – what a great transformation! This has brightened the guitar up but without loosing the ability to do what it could do before – but it is now so much more versatile.
