Description
Distressed gold metal open faced humbucker frame / cover
Adding covers to pickups can, as well as changing the look of them, alter the tone of the pickup by reducing some of the top end.
Replacement covers need to be soldered onto the baseplate of the pickup. A small area of the inside plating will need to be sanded / filed /scraped back to bare metal in the location you will be soldering to get a good electrical connection between the casing and the earth circuit of the instrument. A minimum 40 watt , though preferably higher wattage, soldering iron will be needed for this as you need to quickly make the joint without dissipating too much heat throughout the rest of the pickup.
